How to Setup Second Hard Drive?

I just picked up a second hard drive. I just want to use it for data storage, and keep my existing drive as is with my OS. Fdisk and format have always intimidated me, and I have heard one too many stories of people trying to fdisk there second drive and they inadvertantly wipe out their primary drive.

What is the best and safest way to setup the second drive in WinXP?

Make sure you configure your drive as a slave or cable select if you are sharing the same cable. Otherwise set it to master on the second port. (This is assuming that you are dealing with IDE drives)
Don't do anything to the drive with fdisk unless you have to. Simply power on your system and go into computer management(right click "my computer" and select manage). Once the window opens, select Disk Manager under Storage and look for your new hard drive. Because you already have the OS installed on the C: drive you shouldn't have to worry about mistaking the two drives.
Now you can create partitions and format the drive without using the DOS prompt.
Now you can go have your cookies and tequila!

If you are worried about wiping your main hdd, just disable/undetect it in the bios. Then boot from a floppy start up disk to your second hdd then use fdisk. NO WORRIES :D

Done it loads of times.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
