How to remove bad sectors

How to remove logical and physical badsectors from Hard disk.
what are the good softwares that r used for these.
ihave the seagate HD and it have developed some bad sectors.
i don't know whether they r logical or physical

i think u should run scan disk. in xp u can go to my computer, right click on partition with bad sectors, go to props>tools. check run scandisk on boot. that should help i think

go to the seagate site and download their software for formating the hard drive. it will delete all the files on your hard drive so backup first. But be warned that it will take away all or most of the bad sectors and they may return again without warning. If you do not have very many then follow mafiafromrussia's advice and run chkdsk that is built in winxp. it will mark the sectors so they will not be used again in this format.

Spinrite will do it if possible but it ain't cheap. Also I think the file system has to be FAT32 not NTFS.

ya the file system is Fat32 in my case

Just run chkdsk /r on the drive(s) in question - in fact, you might as well run it on all drives.
