How to date a windows install?

Now this has to be the simplest operation - so reps to the first answer that works... and the first only ;)

I have an old ASUS XP3000+ rig that has a failing maxtor primary drive - but it is failing in the kindest way so the rig keeps limping along fine and is actually my primary rig for all leisure activities...

BUT it cannot take a format install (it's kinda messy, but has all my legacy stuff that is not critical, because I am lazy and can rely on our new 1TB server :smoker: )

SO I got to wondering, how old is the install on there? Gotta be an easy one to tell the date from something - but not under System Properties (though I reckon MS should put it there!) and BTW it is current on updates etc etc... so how do I tell when I last formatted and installed XP?

Open up a Command Prompt window and run 'systeminfo'
There should be an 'Original Install Date' item somewhere in there. :)

yep - 12/11/2003, 05:26:30 well vintage! Must have been an all-nighter!

rep++

thanks :)

/me wonders who has older? Please vanquished - not back to your polling again!

You know XP license keys can be reverse engineered from product id's?

Original Install Date: March 25, 2003

I guess it's time for a new motherboard and CPU!

you guys might want to take those product keys out.

The creation date of "Documents and Settings", "Program Files", and "WINDOWS" all carry the install date/time.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
