How to cure slow LAN transfer - vista only

Now this has probably been suggested already many times before - but i overlooked turning this thing off because well i just forgot :/

Now if like me you transfer things to your storage pc or mac or linux, if your transfering adn say listen to music you will notice the speed drop like a stone - even on a gigbit connection.

To solve this go to Control Panel - Programs and Features - Turn Windows features on or off - remote differential compression, untick - reboot, nice transfer speeds again

also turning of uac and especially indexing service will also speed up transfers.
