How do you change names in System Startup menu.

How do I change the Log Off or Turn Off Computer commands text?

I believe it is a regedit command somewhere but I don't want to go messing round in there.

Also, what is RUN command to edit startup tasks? I can't for the life of me remember it right now :dead:

I dont know about the first one, but you can use "msconfig" in run and then goto startup

Man, I just had "regedit" floating around my mind. I could not think for the life of me what the command should have been.

I don't know. I checked and I can't find it. I though there was a regedit setting from what I have read in some magazines. If its not a setting I can change, no biggie.

BTW, thust far it doesn't seem to be an option in the registry. There are some things there wrt the start menu, but not this:

If anyone can find a copy of the regentry.hlp file for winXP (assuming they have one), it should be possible to search that. It came with the winNT 4.0 Resource Kit (albeit I never did get the XP Resource Kit). It had detailed registry entry help, and the file which was on the CD ROM was also searcheable...

Among the things, it mentioned the key, value, what it did, and how to set it/change the settings.

Log Off and Shut Down are in Explorer.exe so I think you would need to modify that.

Log Off and Shutdown are editable in the current visual style you are using.
