How do I remove/edit the "Welcome" screen?

I've been looking in a lot of XP tweaking sites and forums looking for an answer to this question... What I found was many sites describing how to replace the boot screen and log-on screen. I also read a couple of suggestions saying I should change "the way a user logs on" from user account settings... When I change the settings i either have to put in a password, which I don't want... or the "welcome" screen shows up. I happen to dislike both options! I don't want to select a user, or enter a password on log-on, cause I am the only person using this computer, and I have no need for the extra security... And about the "welcome" screen, I seriously hate the blue background used in that screen (and all other parts of XP) because it simply doesn't go along with the colors I've choosen for my XP theme! So what can I do to edit this "welcome" screen? There's also the other blue "shutdown" screen at the end, I want to edit that too. Editing the "shutdown" window would also be cool :D Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Well, I'm not too sure about the Shutdown Screen, but I do know you can make the Welcome Screen go bye bye. I'm throwing this out there off the top of my head cuz I'm at work, but here it goes...

Go to the Users Configuration and select your Name. If you have a password just delete it, set it as none, or whatever. Then go to Change Way Users Log On and there should be some options in there you can change like SHOW WELCOME SCREEN and the Fast Switching thing. Then reboot and see what happens. If this doesnt work (I'll reconfirm when I get home) you can always set the Welcome Screen to Win 2000 type and then use Tweak UI to log on automatically. But I'm sure it will work, I used to have it like that.

Let me know if I'm wrong and I'll try to help you out. Later.

try running gpedit.msc
you can modify many things there
look under comp cfg/admin templates/services/logon
good luck

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
