how do i copy files with recovery console

hello.i am wanting to change the boot screen on my xp-pro.i have made the new boot screen using boot editor and following this guidehttp://www.extrememhz.com/winxpcust-p2.shtml.
i know the ntoskrnl.exe,is a critical file,and what i would do is place a copy on a floppy,and if i borked things up,i could use rec\console to copy from the floppy to c drive.my c drive is formatted in NTFS.i tried this command in the rec
console copy a:\filename c:\temp
i get an access denied message.what i was tring to copy was obviously not the ntoskrnl file but just testing if the command would work.did i type the command wrong or am i missing something

If you rename instead of overwrite the original file so that you have a backup, there is no need to access a floppy from RC. Just rename it back.
