How can i stop getting popups when surfing on the internet?

Does anyone know how i can stop popups coming up when i'm surfing on the internet?

First of all christiani - welcome to Xp-erience.org.

This subject has been covered many times in the past- so I'd like to teach ya a little something about the "search" function of this forum. Up at the top there is a row of items that ya can select. If ya click on "search" and type popups into the search block it should give ya about 10 pages of forum topics to look at.

This way you can look through these at your leisure and decide which ones ya would like to try and also recieve some good feedback on the various choices.

thats if u use Netscape or IE, i use Opera and it is much better then NS or IE, it has its own built-in pop-up stopper.

I am using Opera too and can highly recommend it as it has many other great features beside the build in popup stopper like the mouse gestures.

less popups, there is a new thing called the fast click and kill. You notice the popup as soon as it appears then click the X in the corner and it goes away.

Guys I have tried many and in my opinion the best popup stopper is called FreeSurfer. It is intelligent and does an excellent job at determining whether a window is legit or a popup add. It is free very easy to use and works like a charm. If you want a popup stopper you owe it to yourself to try this one.

If you're using IE, get one of the above mentioned pop-up stoppers that stay in memory and block pop-up windows and ad banners.

Mozilla 1.0 has a built-in popup stopper ... just started using it yesterday
