HI-VAL pci 338 sound card compatibality wit winXP?

i just had a sound card lying around, so then i decided to install it, the box says compatiblity with win95/98/nt 4.0 but i think this card was made b4 xp. anyways this card works for like maybe 3 min., the next sound it plays in winamp doesnt work anymore. and my cpu usage goes up dymaticly, is there a way i could use this card?

yea i would buy it, but this card was lying around, so if this doesnt work, ill just put it into one of my old computers, and my computer will have onboard sound as for now, and ill get a better sound card in the future. dats if i cant figure out the problem
