I downloaded a few XP login screens to windows resources directory and now my computer runs very fast.Actually too fast as if there is somerthing wrong. Also i noticed power supply runs very hot.I tried system restore but it is the same.Any suggestions as to what happened?I also downloaded login loader.

What is too fast? Does everything load up properly? Is it causing any problems?

I don't think downloading login screens would have done anything to your PC, not to the hardware at least.

What else have you done to it?

Help

I added a Maxtor 80 gig hard drive last week and it worked fine.I had no problems until i did this.I have a AMD duron 800 MHZ 256 ram. I just downloaded a Temp. probe and the motherboard is over 100 degrees farenheit.I moved the drives so they are not on top of each other and installed another cooling fan a few mins. ago.The pages load very fast (normally i would want this)and all the menus open very quickly.I just don't know why all of a sudden it runs very fast and hot.thanks for the quick replyies.

make sure the program you downloaded is compatible with your motherboard, you can get funny readings if it's not fully compatible.

i bet the temp sensors are set right in the software. I bet it is the cpu temp he is reading that is over 100+F. I dont think that PC would be running if the MB was 100+F.

What software you using for the temp control?

I bet something in his them or whatever adjusted his menu speed?

but just in case.... check your clock speed on your cpu.. something may have tweaked/corrupted the bios.. very unlikely but could happen.

the menu speed ussually isnt controlled by your cpu clock, it is controlled by milliseconds in the registry.

just some initial thoughts..

I downloaded hardware sensors monitor from ZDnet. It says the motherboard is 132.8 and cpu 1 is 91.4 and cpu 2 is 147.2 Since i moved drive away from other one and installed new fan the case is much cooler.

How can i see if menu speed is adjusted correctly? Thanks again.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
