Help with XP Encryption Problem Need Help Bad Please

I have a text file in a folder and I encrypted it just to try it out. The folder was on the desktop when I encrypted it. Now when i save any file text, web file, anything anywhere. I dont want it to auto encrypt everything i save. I can unencrypt it but thats a hassle with all the stuff I save. How can I get this to stop? I have looked all over to find an answer. Thanks

I know how to encrypt and decrypt but I want to know why every folder I make, save, and every file or folder i download is encrypted automatically. I want to stop this. Thx
