Hello'
I built a new computer for a buddy who has a AOL account. It is a 1.7 Celeron with a Intel 845 board and 512 megs of DDR. It's a budget machine with audio, sound and Lan onboard, but I put a Toshiba 16x DVD drive and a Lite on 40x burner. All works great till I install his AOL, then the DVD stops working both as a DVD or a CD-Rom and the HD light stays on constant till I eject the disk.Once I have put a disk in the DVD the machine will not shut down, if I remove AOL and restart the whole system runs great again. I have switched DVD drives, all is well in device manager, and AOL support SUCKS! Any advice on how to make this thing work?

stab in the dark

could be modem related

try getting updated drivers or try a different modem

AOL 7 is the buggiest yet

Try & get hold of version 8 its a lot more stable

AOL 8 upgrade here

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?

Impressed you have kept this alive this long EP! So many sites have come and gone. :(

Just did some crude math and I apparently joined almost 18yrs ago, how is that possible???
