Periodically I get this strange blue screen in XP where it shuts down the os 'to protect the pc' and begins a memory dump..

The error message seems to be as follows:

STOP: 0X0000008E (0XC00000D, 0XBF820B68, 0XB8FCA778, 0X00000000)

Win32k.sys - address BF820B68 base at BF800000

Does anybody have a clue as to what this might be??

I've noticed it happening when I close applications. each time its a different app though... happens maybe once or twice a night

Not time to google the links - but from my memory a stop code of 8E could well indicate your memory is dodgey.... I had ti once with some very temperature sensitive RAM, but it could equally be timings or something esp. if you are overclocking or anything. Try running the memory testing app - either M$ own or maybe the memtest one and see if it finds any problems with your memory.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
