My college courses requires that i have a removable hard drive rack .... i donno if i am to get a Sata or or UDMA drive... im assuming for now a UDMA my bother board on this new pc i am getting is here ....http://www.asus.com/products4.aspx?l1=3&l2=15&l3=0&model=455&modelmenu=1 .... im curcious if a udma drive can be connected to this kind of motherboard it only says SATA...... and im not sure which power supply to get any suggestions... but otherwise im thinking one of the following two
1. http://www.antec.com/us/productDetails.php?ProdID=24480
or
2. http://www.enermax.com.tw/products_page.php?Tid=1&gon=265&Gid=18&Gid2=46

any suggestions as to the motherboard wether it supports the UDMA drives... and which Power supply will be good for my mobo and drive connections. thanx

All SATA boards will still have IDE sockets as CD/DVD drives are still using the IDE interface. This is the same interface as the UDMA HD that you're using or going to use.

well, i use the Antec NeoPower 480W myself and it's a really good psu. however, it lacks a 2nd fan to extract the heat from the top end of the casing which is a bit of a disappointment because it means that i have to use the rear case fan to keep the case cool (especially when constantly playing games or video encoding for a long period of time). this obviously means more noise from the system overall - so it would be advisable to get a psu with 2 fans rather than just 1.

Why on earth do they require a removable rack drive? I'd double check with them that they don't mean that you need an external hdd (USB or Firewire).

that's what i thought at first. but most of the people i know were required to use CDRWs or Zip disks.

Question: How many college or uni students could actually install a removeable rack themselves?

Maybe they want to make $ for the IT/helpdesk dept.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
