help~norton antivirus 2002

hi i've tried to install norton antivirus from norton.com and from kazaa and both don't work! everytime while im installing it it says the same things~first it says "live update couldn't be installed and installation will be continued still" next it says at the end "installation has made a premature error" or something? help

oh by the way i have xp and i made sure the norton antivirus was xp compatible or atleast it says so

NAV 2002 is really funny about any trace of a prior installation being left on your puter - your problem could be that ya got traces of the 1st install attempt left on the puter.
