i want far cry, (half life 2 and doom 3) to play at high settings with little lag... should i upgrade my procc (if so, too what.) or get a 9800 pro? or maybe faster ram.

i only have enough $$ to do one now. what you guys think?

personally I would just save the $ until I could upgrade two or all three of them, and play with lower settings until then.

Well with your current setup I would say your good on RAM and your processor is definatly up to the job, in fact so is your graphics card, so I don't thing your lag issue is due to your system. Have you considered your internet connection? Have you made sure your not running programs in the background that are using up system resources (ie: SETI, FOLDING@Home, ect).

i would wait...

right now your processor/gpu and ram are not too bad... start saving the pennies and upgrade in a while when the prices for the current high-end stuff starts going down and you can get a nice r4xx or nv4x card for a decent price...

im going to wait i think. my problem is that i have progs running all the time. and i like to play games without shutting them down. but i like the x800 cards so i will wait for those.

Have you looked into overclocking your CPU to sqeeze a little more life out of it? I am running my Athlon XP 2800+ at 2.34 GHz, and it's nice...I'm going even higher today to see how far I can push it.

And if someone held a gun to my head and told me to make a decision about one piece of your hardware, I would go with the mobo/processor. Everything else is great, and even your processor is not too shabby--it's just the first one I would replace.

actually, running far cry at the highest settings will bring down most of the best systems, being it is such a graphically intensive game at high settings, if your hell bent on upgrading now, i would upgrade the video card. If it were me, i would save up and build a 64-bit system the would put that game in its place.

my athlon xp 3200 with dual channel enabled pc3200(ddr 400, 1gb) ram with an ati radeon 9500 pro gets boggy at the highest settings.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
