Help installing XP!

Im doing a "fresh install" and half way through I get:

Fatal Error:

SXS.DLL:syntax error in manifest or policy

File: "D:\I386|asms\1000\MSFT\\WINDOWS\GDIPLUS\GDIPLUS.man" on line 4

This is NOT a burned copy... bought it from Best Buy...

Help! Please!

Only references I could find to this was for a burnt copy where a file was not copied correctly. Try giving to xp cd a good clean. Fingerprints etc.

Or you should be able to exchange the CD for a new one. Best Buy's usually pretty good about that. If the second CD don't work, then I would try a different CD-ROM (as the link above talks about.

I got an error similar to that one when I did a freshie of XP Pro. I just burnt a fresh copy onto a blank CD and it worked fine. But yeah, if that doesn't work, I'd take it back and complain loudly.

I went back into the bios and configured the c: to load 1st... the install picked up right where it left off...

everything installed fine after that.
