If two disks have the same capacity, but different organization (say 4 sides and 1024 cylinders versus 8 sides with 512 cylinders), are there any significant differences between their operation and/or performance ?

any thoughts appreciated

Shouldn't notice any enhancements to performance unless that's where the access time comes in.
You'll more likely to see performance differences when the two HD's have different spin rates (5400 or 7200 rpm) and the cache.

I'm looking more at architecture of the physical drives.

like an older drive, and a newer one

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
