Hello,

i've got a strange problem with XP right now... I bought a new HD (Seagate, 40Gb, UDMA100), i plugged in into my comp and at my great surprise, when i'm logged in XP, i can't see my drive, until i go into system properties, and there i have to do a refresh on the component list to have my HD displayed and recognized by XP! I also got win2k, and there is no problem with it!

Does someone know a way i could follow to make my HD recognized every time? :) It could be.. err... useful :)

Thanks !!

you have to set the harddrive up using disk management.

Right click on my computer, choose manage, then open the disk management tab and you can set the drive up :)

hope that helps

Your HDD is detected after the bios check right (While detecting other ATA/IDE devices..)?

Perhaps you should try booting with the 6bootdisks, and then creating the partition using the NTFS file system (Recommended, unless your really desperate for FAT32 because it's faster for gaming etc)...

After that, it should just bootup and show the HDD in Windows etc.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?

Impressed you have kept this alive this long EP! So many sites have come and gone. :(

Just did some crude math and I apparently joined almost 18yrs ago, how is that possible???
