Hey someone i need help with my computer.... i Installed a password protecter for Windows 98 but it also disables the c drive and anything eles i want. Well that was all fine and dandy untill i decided i want to take it off i went into the add remove programs to get rid of it and it said that you need to type a password so i tryed everything and it wwould not take it. so i when c/program files the folder and deleted the folder and then went back to the add remove programs and removed it and that was that. (or at least i thought) i restarted my computer and the bios would not reconize the drive and cant access anything it really
sux. i cant even format the drive the bios on my friends computer does not detect it either. i have a P3 933 and i need help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sounds to me like the drive died on you. Just coincedence it happened on the back of that password program deal.

I'd try this though. Pull the jumpers off of it and put it on it's own IDE channel to see it your bios will find it then. I have a couple of Western Digital drives and I know they're very particular about correct jumper settings. Worth a shot to see if your drive is still good.

yep i agree with lonman. Sounds like the drive went bad. If his suggestion doesnt work, remember that most harddrives have a 3 year warranty from the manufacture or date of purchase with reciept. Go to there website and see if they have a serial number checker to check for warranty. Also there maybe a date on the drive itself.
