Sup, I've just gone out and splashed £35 on Halo for the PC
(they saw me coming;))
However, when I try and start the game, it comes up with an
error message:

A problem has occured initializing Direct3D. Hardware acceleration
may have been disabled.

System Specs:

AMD XP 2400
512 PC2100 RAM
ATI 3D Prophet 128mb gfx (Dx.9 - 3.6 Catalysts)
Asus A7V8X Mobo (VIA 4.48)
Windows XP SP1

Anybody know a way round this one?
I know for a fact my hardware acceleration is active:confused:

change the shortcut to match ur res and refresh rate..

my trial shortcus looks like

>> "K:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo Trial\halo.exe" -vidmode 1280,960,85

nice 1

I had that problem with halo as well. I sussed it out a little different though. I was using nv refresh tool and that was the cause. I changed to refresh lock and that did the trick for me.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
