OK, I followed the instructions from the guides on the main page, but have run into a problem. I don't know how to make the image work correctly with transparency and all, seeing as it has to be a .bmp.

I've included a pic to illustrate my point.

edit: It looks alright in the first picture because i just used the gradient of the start button as the background
 
Which photo/image editing program are you using?
 
Using Photoshop 6.0, but I have access to 7.0 and PSP(don't know what version) from friends if need be. And of course I have MSPaint
 
The option to create a transparent image is in the 'New' dialog under background options.

right, I understand that. However, I need a .bmp to be able to use it, and AFAIK, .bmp does not support transparenct.
 
I was under the impression that .GIF and .BMP were two of the few that did support it.

i was almost positive that it was only .gif and .png that did.... anyone else care to jump in here and let us know?
