For all of those who unfortanatly have MSN as your ISP, here is a great tweak that worked for me and may work for you. When first log on and the MSN Explorer is up, in the lower left hand corner of your screen is a built in Windows Media Player. You can hit an arrow and maximize the Media Player out of MSN explorer and into its own window, do that. Then hit alt+control+delete to bring up the task manager. Click on Media Player and then click on End Task. Wait about 5 seconds and MSN explorer will crass (with no prompts or anything, just dissappears) and presto, you are still connected to the internet but you dont have the MSN Screen on your Taskbar.
Here is where I need the help though ... I recently was finally able to get rid of MSN Messenger using:
RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove
My Problem though is when I sign on now, I cant log onto MSN explorer cause it says that Messenger is an important part of explorer and it cant load without it. It then prompts me if I want to install it, so naturally I select no. My problem is that I cant use my tweak anymore to clear the MSN screen out of my taskbar (which is really annoying). My question is how can I make it, if any way possible, so when I minimize the MSN Explorer select a name to login screen, it will minimize to the system tray where I can then hide it. If anyone has the answer or any ideas that think might remotely work, I am all ears. Thanks for viewing this!
