Hey,

I came back from my vacation, turned on my pc and wanted to start gpedit.msc. I get this error message, why? fix?

Thanks.

It look like the MMC may have become corrupted somehow. open the run dialog and type in MMC, or try opening another snap-in like servcies.msc. If you get the same message then the something is definatly wrong with the MMC. if so try running the system file checker > SFC /SCANNOW

services runs fine, but gpedit.msc gives me hell. what should i do?

Here's a copy of my gpedit.msc. if this dosent work you may still want to try the system file checker.

didn't work. same error. I customized my files (so i can have a imac theme) and that theme modified every file on my system. if i run the file checker or whatever it will remove my theme. are you sure this is the only way?

Well its the only thing I can think of. Besides doing a repair install. You may want to wait and see if anyone else has a better idea.
How sure are you that customizing your files didnt cause this problem?

Good find yoyo:happy:
I must be getting lazy I didnt even google the error message.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
