Has anyone used it? my mate uses it and he says it's great, i was looking at it, they have a home 1000 connection, which is twice as fast as my current bt connection at the same price...just wanted to know if anyone's heard any good/bad things about them. (wasn't sure which section to post this in)

You pay £29.99 for 512 DSL? ****ing hell, you're getting ripped off beyond belief.

Can't say that I've ever used Gio before, didn't even know they were offering DSL, a mate of mine used to use their Dial-up and said it was absolutely appalling, simply getting connected was a chore, of course that's not usually a problem with DSL due to the factor that virtually everyone uses BT's backbones and networking. I'd check http://adslguide.org.uk/ for honest opinions etc. :)

ok thanks, i'll read that, and i didn't realise we were getting ripped off, i thought the UK was just behind with internet connections, maybe it's me that's behind again!

i got free conection, free modem + £27 a month :p that about average deal these days.

you can get 512 for £~22 a month from places like griffen, but then you have top buy modem etc.

We are :) however as Henry says, you can get a connection for around the £22
The best DSL ISP in the UK (officially, speed and reliability wise) is Nildram who are about £23/month for their cheapest package, and it's only a 1-month contract, so you don't need to worry too much if you change your mind.

That's what I hate about the really cheap, and in most cases the really expensive ISP's, you're tied into a 12-month contract, so you're screwed if the service isn't as good as you thought it would be.

Oh, and don't let a "free modem" sway you, what good is a free modem with a 12-month contract and a crap connection? Besides, you pay for it in the monthly price anyway, and it's usually a nasty USB modem (Hate usb modems. Ethernet or PCI for me :p)

To be perfectly honest, if you've had Gio recommended by a friend, and you're happy to pay the £29, go for the 1mb line, just make sure you check other people's opinions and read their terms etc :)

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
