 i have a gigabyte ga7n400pro2(rev2)MB with amd xp 3200 barton CPU,nvidia
geforce fx5900ultra 256 mb VGA,2ghz ddr dual channel memory.this system runs very wel,its really fast and i love it but......i play games like farcry,doom3
cc generals, dtm race driver 2.none of this games run on this system.i instal the game...works fine..then i wanna play...''cant locate cdrom please insert proper cdrom and press ok''???????????i download a no-cd patch, and i start the game.....yes!!!it works!!!.....5 min later...''critical error''.....its like that with any game i try to play.i have al the latest drivers and everything is conected fine...oh yeah there is something wrong with the cpu temp in bios tot reads 70°c but on the case readings(thermaltake xaser 5000)it reads only 38°c.what the hell is going on here.a conspiricy against me or what?i thought i had a fine machine...guess not. :(

use of a no cd rom patch is not something we support because it violates the copy protection of the game.
We do not support or condone circumvation of a games copy protection.

Are you sure that the case is not reading the case temp? If that is what is happening and 70C is the actual CPU temp, it is a bit high. A new CPU heatsink/fan may be what you are looking at. One option may be to under clock the CPU a bit and drop the CPU voltage down and then play a bit and see what happens. Also if your video card is overclocked you may want to try it at stock speeds as well. An ambient temp of 38C may go up a bit when you are gaming. I know my 5900xt heats up and my ambient case temp goes up quite a bit when I'm gaming. Keep in mind that the 3200+ cpu tends to run pretty hot. I finally caved in and put a Thermalright sp97 heatsink and Thermaltake Smartfan2 on my 3200+ to keep it cool. Hope this helps, good luck with it.

i think a no-cd patch is no violation of any law if you Do have the oficial game...i dont copy or downl games!!!!!i buy them in the shop.i use them cause i dont have to use(or damage)my original cd's then i can leave them clean in the box...so dont criticise me please if you dont now what you are talking about....thx allot!!

me thermaltake xaser5000 case has 3 tempmonitors:cpu,ambient1 and 2.the cpu monitor is attacht to the side of the heatsink,so i think its pritty accurat(it reads idle @ 38°c)

ok capt hothead... read your first post then read mine. where did you say that you owned the game and where did i say you copied or downloaded anything.
i said we dont support no cd-cracks. YES it is a violation if copywrite laws. dont believe me email any manufacturer about it then.

I tried being nice about it but you might want to read the guidelines first before you tell other ppl to not criticise you when all I tried to do was point out something. so much for being nice.

oh and welcome to the forums.

gigabyte ga7n400pro2 (rev2)

This motherboard had a known problem with some CD drives which if you update the BIOS to revision FH will correct the issue. You can do this over the internet using the @BIOS utility from within XP itself.

:) :) :)

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
