Does anyone out there know how I can get rid of windows messenger. I have already tried going to sycom.inf in the inf folder, and altering the "hide" setting, and that didn't work.

Thanks in advance for any help provided.

go to :

Start > Run

at the run window type in gpedit.msc

once in there.. goto:

Computer Configuration
under this, goto "Administrative Templates"

next, goto: "windows components"
under this, goto "Windows Messenger"

once you are here... you will see two entries for messenger...
right-click each one and then left click on properties....

you will want to choose "disable" for both...and viola!!! no more messenger.!!!!!!

good luck!

ya, whatever you do you dont want to try renaming a file to make sure it doesnt run. you can get garbage responses that way.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
