Getting rid of 1394??

I am trying to use DRTCP to speed my cable modem but because of my Audigy sound card with firewire 1394, it won't allow me to. I save changes in DRTCP and when it reboots, it shows a 1394 connection as default and not the Ethernet. My question is, how do i get rid of 1394 in network neighborhood??? I dont use it nor need it for now and will opt for USB2.0 eventually. I need to get rid of this connection and it won't let me delete it, just disable it.

any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

oh and im on XP pro

Nevermind im a meathead, i was stressing and finally deleted it via device manager lol what a day im having.

sorry ya'll

ARGHHH upon reboot, it keeps detecting the 1394 port, how the hell can i stop it from recognizing it via plug and play or whatever?!?!

Can you just disable the 1394 from device manager or network connections screen? That should make it unavailable to the system.

Ive done both, i uninstalled it via device manager but i guess during PnP it recognizes it and adds it everytime to my network. disabling it works but in the program to tweak my cable modem, it uses the 1394 as a default every time instead of the ethernet and there are no options to delete the 1394 in the tweak program so im guessing the only way to do it is to delete the 1394 for good so that XP doesn't pick it up on reboots.

Just disable the device in the device manager. Don't delete it. If you just diable it it will still be there, just unusable (red cross over the icon). Should work.

ya im able to disable it but regardless of it being disabled it shows up in this program and becomes the default no matter what. i guess its a program problem that i cannot fix since PnP picks up the device everytime.
I just didnt want the 1394 to be there period so the program had no other choices, just ethernet. thanks for the responses though!

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
