Getting admin privleges with a registry hack?

if you can get into the registry on an XP client computer, is it possible to change access permissions for a user or group of users inside the registry? If so, what are the keys that a computer adminstrator needs to watch out for? Is it possible to beat the problem with a program like regcheck that keeps an eye on the registry for changes? Is it possible to actually disable registry editing? (I know you can disable regedit.exe but there are about 300 ways around it). Is there a way to get around having your permissions set to forbid registry editing?

you will not be able to change registry permissions unless you are an administrator or a member of the admin group. if you had the ability to do what you are suggesting you would be looking at a major security flaw in windows xp / 2000.

even your current logged on user his registry is read only.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
