Games Stuttering in XP Home

This is my first AMD system build and I am having problems with games stuttering. Under Windows ME all the games run fine though. I loaded the latest VIA 4-IN-1 Drivers for XP.......Should I have not done this. Also, I have got all the updates from Microsoft and have the latest drivers for my video and sound cards. Any help would be appreciated.

I have already downloaded the 29.42 drivers from Nvidia's website. Any other suggestions?

If the game has the option of 3d sound try turning it off - also you may want to download the nvidia xp refresh fix

Clean Install. Everything works fine in ME.
