Futuremark's 3DMark06 Benchmarks

Yeah ATI are not really coming out of this very well.
Will leave it to Sazar to explain though as I don't quite understand.

I dunno bout the newer products, will have to read up more about it. I am not sure if there is some kind of specific optimization to enable something or other.

All I can think of. :)

Rage3d will probably have lotsa fanboi's screaming their heads off :smoker:

Yeah I saw one of those threads last night.

omgz 3dmarks00006 is like totally twimtbp game ;)

*chuckle*

/me shrugs

I have an sm 2.0+ card and it does a good job still for me in all games. Can't complain, cept to tell Source to stop screwing up CS:S with every single patch.

They went from the shiny coating to friggin 2d sprite bushes all over the place. Whats the bloody point?

I think I will try the Omega drivers, as it has a optmiasation (sp) for benching.

And after going through everything, I need to increase my FSB up to 235 and sync my PCI-E.

Bump my card up to it's max. I was at 690-780.

******

After a few BSOD I just realised that I needed to loosen up my timings. 3.3.3.6 to run anything over 235Mhz.

hmm..... i may have to add a new entry to this slowly-becoming-old thread with my new setup tomorrow.... right now.... i need sleep. stupid freakin work.

Interesting I just ran it and
4418

2.98Ghz
715-820 X1800XTPE (flashed BIOS)
2.2.2.5 1T 210Mhz RAM

Cat 6.3's I use these as the overclocker tool works with them and not 6
4's. But 6.4's are suppossed to boost your scores almost 5%.

What is confusing is I got 4623 on 6.2's and at 2.8ish Ghz.

Ok.... is like.... 3DMark06 not set up yet to work with 7900GT's? either that, or somethin is really wrong with my setup.

3DMark score: 4418
SM2.0 Score: 2199
HDR/SM3.0 Score: 2166
CPU Score: 851

3D06 sucks. Really.

Simple, succinct, accurate.

I have stopped using the entire 3dMark series. They mislead me on my last vid card purchase and when digging into why I realised they are much to heavily weighted on CPU performace to give a true video performance.

Steevo - the 6.2's were a big improvement for me in game for BF2. I skipped 6.3 and the 6.4's seem to be about the same as 6.2.

well..... EVERYTHING relies on the CPU.... some things more than others. it's the AI and Physics in the latest games that really tax the CPU..... hence why 3DMark06 does a more strict CPU test. still.... should be getting higher than 4418 i think....

Surfing through the 7800 GT scores they go from 3800-5500 for "identical setups" to yours.

The non-sli are 3800-4000 then with SLI they jump to 4766-5525.

(4766) Low end guy's gpu clock is 468/1096. (A8N-SLI DELUX) 8.1.9.8 drivers
(5100) Mid range guy is 425/1099 (A8N-SLI) 8.1.9.8 drivers
(5525) Hi end guy is 425/1174 (Microstar MB) 8.1.9.8 drivers

Ram and CPU FSB and clock speed are all the same. There is no hardware reason the scores are that much different. It has to be background tasks or card settings. Your rig is benching on the low side.

Reboot, turn off everything non-essential and start the benchmark immediately. If the bench is still low email the guy with 5528 and ask him what he is doing right. Possibly a different sound card? Or he overclocked and 3dMark06 does not catch it. '05 and earlier used to show the cards real speed.

I occasional get an email about a benchmark result and actually answer them. Unfortunately, the ansewr is usually I have no clue what I did right.

UPdate - now that I wrote all that I see I was looking at 7800 not 7900. Ooops.

The 7900's do not appear to run as fast. Only 3 guys beat your score and they must be overclocked. Speed shows as N/A.

The typical score is in the 4400 range. So you are doing really good, quit whining. Unless you want to whine that the 7800 GT is a faster board.

It could be worse. My POS benches at 1700 and for what I paid I should have a score close to 4000.

I only 3155 with my setup. Is something wrong? I am just about the bottom of the league for my setup. I even changed my drivers to older ones that seem to get much better results in 3DMark06.

Im still new to this and will do again... but mine said 9916 ... and i dunno really what to do with it ... so can one please explain what really should be done.

This was at stock with yahoo messenger and antivirus running.

Turn off 3dmark.

Turn on games.

Play.

That is all.

that makes more sense really. A fellow member mentioned i might run 3dmark6 and post the results with some pictures of my rig.

Im down with what you say sazar,

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?

Impressed you have kept this alive this long EP! So many sites have come and gone. :(

Just did some crude math and I apparently joined almost 18yrs ago, how is that possible???
