My parents just bought this computer and it did not come with a floppy drive so i installed a new one, bought from maplin. when i installed it and turned on the comp and xp did not see it. any ideas?

if it's a name brand pre-built computer and didn't come with a floppy, chances are the bios wasn't made to recognize one. but look around in it's bios anyway and maybe it will let you enable it.

if not, you're only option is probably to get an external usb one.

it might say on the screen immediately after it's turned on. look maybe on the bottom part of the screen for a "Press Ctrl+F1 to enter setup." or whatever it is. if you dom't see anything, look in your user manual.

all the manual says is what the bios does and not how to get into it

sorry guys just remembered i did not but the power connecter on. god i feel stupid

i have just put the power connecter on the floppy drive and xp still does not see it and the power light is on all the time

the ribbon cable is probably upside down. take it out of the floppy and turn it over.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
