Front Page Speed

I know we had a thread about this before, but I can't find it

Anyways, I remember we had some work done which led to the scrolling speed on the front page to be a lot faster/smoother.

However over the past coupla months or so it seems to have returned to it's old, sluggish responsiveness.

Any word on if this can be addressed and the speed returned to normal?

I am sure we can have ads and place-holders that don't lead to scrolling being slow as a broken-legged sloth.

Perhaps the change/fix was lost in the rollback?

Oh its the background, it came back
Must have happened ages ago tho (perhaps at my last err.) as I have done nothing to it.
