Freeze up

Just did a clean install of XP Pro (reformatted hd, etc etc). It loaded up fine. The first time that I did a restart, everything loaded up and the window came up with start bar and everything. When I click on start then programs the darn thing freezes up. The only way that I can get it to run is to do a control-alt-delete and click on the "X" in the upper righthand corner twice. Then everything runs normal. I thought that it might be a hardware problem so I unhooked everything except mouse, keyboard and restarted. Had to do the same thing. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Tks - Dave (this is my first post attempt, so sri if something is screwed up)

Try checking the Event Viewer to see if that will give you any idea of what is causing the problem.
