So many free applications on this forum lately... <-- O.O when I saw that I thought it was an old person with no teeth.
On goes my multimedia application part 2 since I see too many people on Yahoo answers and other help forums about converters. So here's a list of multipurpose and specific file converters that I've found to be easy, high- XD

SUPER by eRightSoft - Multipurpose converter and encoder of virtually any media or audio file. Allows gif (avatar) animation creation too. Pity this forum doesn't allow animated avatars. But anyways, it's better than anything else I've ever seen. If you have a ripped DVD you can also choose the DVD language/audio track. Only downside is that you'll need some basic knowledge to use it. Intermediate+ users only. I use it and it owns. Literally.

Mediacoder
- Open source alternative. Looked at it, and I quite like it. The GUI is Spartan and made for simplicity. Even computer-handicapped people (who just don't know their true potential :p) will understand it after a short period. Full community support. Has specific editions that'll make videos or audio play on PSP, iPhone, etc. Use it if you like simplicity, but get SUPER if you want more tweaking options.

Queue for Encoding
(I dunno what else to call it XD) - Specific AVI, MKV and MP4 file conversion to DVD-compatible MPEG2 video. Simple use, it's actually a remix of QuEnc and AviSynth for commandline and script idiots (like me) that does all the work for you. Subtitle support for MKV, and I see no loss of playback quality (need to confirm HD though). No syncing problems. Quite useful if you watch anime or anything with subtitles.

All2Avi - Another open-source video specific converter. A cookie if you think it's AVI. Huge anime theme (snicker) and couldn't get any simpler. Supports almost anything you throw at it, even MKV. The subtitle support needs serious work though. Special mode for HD (H264 or x264, whichever your file prefers to describe as, they're the same) files. I see no loss of quality and it's good. Perfect with SUPER =]
PS: Ohhhh, they have a pretty new page XD

I'm adding more later as I have dinner *_* Feedback and recommendations welcome :D Hope it helped some of you. I wonder if I should do more of these o_O

I was only sticking with free software you needed to install.
But if anyone's looking for online converters, binoyxj's www.media-convert.com and my personal recommendation of www.zamzar.com are free.

Media-convert's downside is that it... has converting issues. And for certain files it says it supports, fail to do auto-detection and then refuses to let me convert the file. But the good thing is that you can convert <150MB file and the file can be shared for 24 hours and a max of 150 days.
Zamzar is human-controlled, so quality is absoutely top-notch. The bad thing is that the file is sent through email so if you have a attachment limit, you're out of luck. Free users also have low priority, but the time is still really fast. It also has a video downloader for sites like youtube, veoh, etc. and will convert the file for you.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
