I have a little problem with my CS...

My system specs are:

- AMD Athlon XP 1.8+
- MSI KT3 Ultra @ Bios 5.6
- Ati Radeon 9500Pro @ 324/310
- HDD 40 GB ATA 100 7200 RPM
- Phillips PSC604 Sound Card
- Sony E200 17" Trinitron

My past video card was a Gforce MX 440 and my FPS works better than this ATI Radeon 9500Pro :(
I have DX9 and ATI Catalyst 3.0.

I dont know what to do, because my fps goes down to 50 - 60 from 100 !
And with Gforce 4 MX works better (90 fps was the minimium)

Plz, I want to fix this problem :(
Thankz

do you have FSAA on? are u running the game at a higher res.? how are u running the game the exact same?

These are the settings...

FSAA off (4x or off, works at same FPS  )
800x600 in game
All programs I can turn it off (MSN, IRC, Antivirus, etc)

Video Card settings:

OpenGL
- Texture preference: Quality (3/4)
- Mipmap detail leve: Quality (3/4)
- Wait for vertical sync: Default on (3/4)
- TRUFORM: Always OFF (1/2)

- Anisotropic Filtering: Application preferance
- Antialiasing: Application preferance

Direct3D
Same as OpenGL

since your video card is running oc'd I am assuming you are using either the warp 11 flashed 9700 bios or some other bios that allows oc'ing...

there is no way with your system that you should be getting that low... :)

you could disable wait for vertical sync and release yuor card from that limitation and see if that will pop your frame rate higher :)

it works for many people...

the card SHOULD run @ a constant 100fps (a few dips here and there) even @ max res... the hl engine does not place a big hit on your video card...

also turn off Anistropic and antialiasing if you can and see if the performance will jump around...

Try playing it in DirectX mode rather than OpenGL

the card should handle opengl perfectly...

heck I could play opengl @ 1600x1200 on my R8500 :)

its other issues that are holding the card back and if there is a flashed bios there may be some issues arising from that...

I dunno... will wait for the gentleman to reply :)

Thx all ppl who reply this post :)

Sazar, yes, I flashed the Warp11 bios for 9500Pro and works perfectly to me ;)
I tested without Vertical sync and No overclockin' and works same like before :(

I have antialiasing and anisotropic filterin' in off

I just reinstalled Windows XP Pro, and I have DX 8.1 and Catalyst 2.5. Should I installd DX9 and the latest Catalyst 3?

Thnz again ;)

what was the performance like before you flashed to the 9700 bios?

thats what I was really getting @ since that MAY cause a few problems for you...

your card runs fast enough @ stock speeds in order to handle the HL engine perfectly... heck your card is as fast as the gf FX 5800 non-ultra ;)

I personally use dx9 with the 30 cats (second revision) which are on ati's driver page...

works like a charm...

try using your original bios with the dx9/cat 3.0a drivers and see if that helps any :)

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
