what i do is... put in my windows 98 boot disk.. load dos prompt.. type in Format C: and format then i restart with the boot disk still in the drive and then type fdisk at dos prompt and then partition my drive.. and then i install windows xp. if u cant boot from ur cd rom drive u will need Win XP boot disks.. which are on 6 seperate disks.

you can do it from windows aswell.
Open a command prompt.
Type in "Format C: /U"
Answer "Y" to the question about "Proceed with format?".
Press Enter
Windows will NOT come back up.
