Hi. I have not been able to resolve this problem by any other means.
Running XP Pro. I install the OS, without any problems. During the process of installing my other software, various MS apps and various 3rd party apps after the required reboot I get a message in the bottom right corner "Windows XP Professional. For testing purposes only.Build 2600.xpsp1.020828-1920(service pack1).
First thought it the legit key that i am using is not legit... It is a corporate key that is used successfully with other guys. they key is legit and I am uable to upgrade to SP1 and to SP1a without any problems. I have spoke to MS and they said I should re-pair the installation. this does not work.

The key is legit. and the problem is annoying above all else.

Any suggestions would help

I remember when everyone was testing the sp1's that came out there was a new one every week towards the end... this had happened to alot of people...but if thats a legit copy and your saying its a corp key << this kind of gives it away ....

Is this on a Personal computer or one at work ????

Sorry, i deleted that post until he answers my question, this ain't a warez help forum, and having a Corp Key on a Personal computer qualifies for warez.

Let him find he's answer somewhere else.

Open Regedit, change
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\CONTROL PANEL\DESKTOP
PaintDesktopVersion from 1 to 0.

Log off or reboot for the changes to take effect.

Cheers

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
