focus stealing

how do i get IE to stop letting web sites from stealing focus. i will be on a site and another window will be going to another and then, bam!, i get the other window up. is there a way to stop it? also, how do i get IE to open sites maximized by default?

As for your first problem, I'd suggest something along the line of Pop-Up Stopper from Panicware... (kill 'em before they can start). The IE problem has been pretty well documented. Open two IE windows, maximize them both, and then shut them both down. Voila! IE opens maximised as default.

i have popupcop but i wasn't refering to pop ups, just other windows going to different sites. the maximising things doesn't work for me, maybe i did something wrong.

Open just one IE window, resize it to almost full screen, don't maximise it, close it. IE will remember the size and position of the last window you close during a session and will use it for the next one.

Sounds like you could have an ad/spyware program serving you sites. Run Spybot and AdAware and see if that helps. The only other thing I can think of is an ad farm, but this usually only happens with pron sites. HTH

i don't visit porn sites and i use adaware once every two days. i guess it is just certain sites it happens on. i was at ThemeXP and it happened today. oh well.
