Floppy Drive

system running windows me, every time start button clicked, system tries to access the floppy drive. The same thing happens if I click any other menu in the start menu.
can anyone shed any light as to what may be causing this?? it's slowing things down alot as it keeps trying to access the floppy.

any adcice would be appreciated.

Perhaps < longshot > try running CCleaner as it may be trying to access a device on the A drive (standard) that is no longer available.
