Since nobody has commented about what I posted here I am wondering if the info was of no use, already knew about it or no one saw it.

Yup, this has been around for quite a while. Was surely posted in one of the earlier pinned threads. It's just too much to sift through 3-4 threads with 12 pages each. :)

I didn't know about it.Good for you that you mentioned it again!

I missed this the first time it was posted. Thanks for bringing attention to it as it got buried in that thread. I just did it and seemed to notice a difference in page load time.

There is a big difference in the speed I have to add!!!Bravo to you!

Nice one - bravo and reps - Firefox should have made this a simple option to vary these by selecting connection type or somesuch (dial-ups days are surely numbered, although it is still no doubt wise to default in that direction!)

Sweet.

I have been wondering why browsing seemed middling with firefox.

Make Firefox faster

This has been tested on 1.5-3mbit DSL connections with moderate to significant improvement. (Not intended for dial-up) Remember to save your settings if you want to reset.

To start:
Open Firefox.
Type "about:config" in the adress bar.
Find these options, double click each one and change to below values:
______________________________________________________________
Code:

network.http.max-connections: 48

network.http.max-connections-per-server: 24

network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-proxy: 12

network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-server: 6

network.http.pipelining: true

network.http.pipelining.maxrequests: 8

network.http.proxy.pipelining: true
_______________________________________________________________

Close Firefox and reopen. Some people told that these settings may hammer some servers. Changing the "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to max of 8 will probably solve the problem.
(reduced to 8 from 16)

oops ! Sorry guys. I should of checked better before posting.

Re: Make Firefox faster

I think this was posted a month or so ago...but thanks anyway :p Now if only they could help us dialup users! Im stuck with 14.4 all weekend :(

Thanks, I followed the steps and it makes quite a noticeable increase in loading pages.
Thanks for the good advise.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
