I have a problem with the way Mozilla Firefox displays my sites....one of'em...www.outdoor-adventure.ro looks ok on IE and Opera but in Mozzila looks ****y(pardon my language but it pisses me off). The menu is not on it's place(although on one of the other pages www.outdoor-adventure.ro/lanterne.htm the menu is ok) the the lines are displayed...and much more as those of u that have firefox will see. The site was made in Front page and I can't see why it's beeing displayed like that. :(...anyone?

Strikes me this is a bit like "shooting the messenger" - this will be down to how you code your HTML etc and the standards as they are applied across browsers - it's juts a fact of life out there that you have to code very "defnsively" if you want your site code to operate correctly in all browsers at all resolutions etc. Alternatively you could stick in one of those "this site is designed for,...." kinda tags and even prohibit other browsers from the site if it is dire - but I get to see the site OK using Ffox here and apart from a hover that does not work and some layout isues you seemed to ascribe to a 19" monitor in another post it works fairly OK - maybe you are being a little picky?

Other opinions please?

There are some very good coders here at OSNN. I am sure one or more of them can look through your code and point you in the right direction to display properly among all browsers.

Lke mainframeguy said, its down to your coding. IE isn't very picky with code, it's more lax'd. Which doesn't help people code, if you forget to close a tag or so it will ignore it. Firefox is more strict and in my opinion better. It will help force you to make sure your code is complete.

In short, Internet Explorer doesn't follow standard, Firefox does.
Since FrontPage is made by MS, it probably doesn't follow standard either (I haven't checked).

dont want to sound rude, but you are wrong.

Firefox does not ruin your work, it teaches you to code properly.

uhm he said Opera shows the page fine which has better standards compliance than firefox.

It is more likely to be another bug in firefox's css engine than bad code. Have run into issues like this myself with perfectly valid xhtml and css 2 and I've been developing sites for 6 years now.

biggie_mac: I would recommend you fetch the latest nightly build of firefox and run it by your page and see what happens. If it displays as intended you can be sre they've fixed the css bug and it'll be fine in the next stable public release, if not report it to the bugtracker and a firefox developer will look into it eventually as one of their missiosn is to be as compliant as they can be.

I couldn't have said that any better and I have a similar background. The mozilla core supports more stylesheet functionality than IE, but they have some really, really screwey implimentations of the standards.

There are countless css and alignment bugs in the vanilla mozilla code that work fine in IE, Opera, Safari.

I absolutely hate coding a project, detecting and cleaning up any syntax errors, then fire up Mozilla and things are wacky adding more development time for me to find a workaround.

The marketshare for Mozilla is increasing, but until it becomes the majority or I know most of my user audience will be using Mozilla, I code for Mozilla to be useable and not perfect. That is the best advice I can give. Don't let the basic functionality of your site break on Mozilla, but don't sweat the details.

[Edit]

To get back on target. I hate Microsoft Frontpage and Macromedia? Dreamweaver with a passion, but specifically frontpage.

I coded a different table structure that seems to work fine in IE/Mozilla. I can't check Safari or Opera from here so I can only guess as to how things worked out. I'm not sure if this will fit the rest of the content on your site, as I've seen some wide pages on that site. The links and javascript functionality will need to be updated to work with the rest of the site again. I changed a few images in width to be more inline with the rest of the page, like the white bottom background for example.

Thx a lot guys. I'll see if I'll use the page I'll try to make the other one fit with it. The validator shows me tons off errors but I can't seem to understand some of them, like this one:

Line 57, column 84: end tag for element "A" which is not open

...mp' " </a width="110" height="24"></a><a href="termeni.htm"><img border=.....

all the tags are closed as I can see. Where's the error?

Well I'm not expert but that " </a> " doesn't look like legal syntax ...

hmm.. odd .. after my post it seems forum (or mozilla) borked rendering showing what i had instead of a bold " > " as is shown now. :p Anyhoo though, wouldn't the closing </a> tag come after the image your making linkable there?

You started an <a></a> tag with a </a> :p that'll never work no matter how much you try and bribe and sweet talk the browser :p

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
