Firefox 3 startup slow

Ever since the last update for FF3, whenever I launch the application, it takes 10-15 seconds for it to showup, at least. Even though it is present in Task-manager, it doesn't actually appear or load for that amount of time.

IE7 and Opera both load instantaneously.

Once FF3 loads, it runs fine but that initial slow-down is really starting to piss me off.

Switch back to IE. Problem solved.

Fwiw, I am just using Opera at the moment. I can fire up Opera and be doing stuff while Firefox works its way into the foreground.

No idea what the issue is but it's REALLY annoying.

p.s. Opera loads MUCH faster than IE :)

Good for you :)

Doesn't really help me any.

well do you have any addons added? if so how many? are they compatible with ff3 ? if not have you looked for updates? Have you cleaned out the prefetch folder which they suggest to do once a month?

I fixed it.

Some minor services tweaks after a fresh re-install and now it boots up immediately.

Opera still dominates though.

And IE is sucky... just like Matty.

Weeeeeeeeeee

you still love sucking on his cookies though don't you gonnads :p

I have my own thank you very much.

Actually eating some oatmeal cookies as I type this... god damn crumbs they're getting all over the keyboard. Well it's the work computer, so fook it. :p

I'm on 3.0.1, and everything is running smoothly here. Takes about a second to start Firefox.

What exactly was wrong with the previous install?

Not having any trouble here either, but I'm on vista so I'm sure it gets superfetched. Thats very odd though, it doesn't sound like the normal Firefox load time on XP machines if you say it doesn't even show up in the task manager. Perhaps try reinstalling it to a different location, or better yet a different physical HD. Might not do anything, but worth a shot at any rate.

He said it does show up in Task Manager. And said he fixed it by a reinstall. I actually just started all of a sudden getting bad RAM usage again, average of 300,000+ now. ARgg

I have absolutely no idea.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
