Finding root folder

Im helping a guy update his site. I have the correct host, and I am able to connect via ws_ftp, however, once I am in I am unable to locate the specific root directory for this site (the guy hosts numerous sites from this host) How do I search for a specific root? Or is that not the way to go about it?

you need to find where the index.htm is located for his splash page. Start there and work form there. First page usually starts with either index.htm or default.htm for FrontPage extension servers.
