My son has just booted up his computer and it has come up with error fdc failure and won't go any further any one any ideas !!

Sounds like your Floppy Disc Controller (FDC) is knackered. I'd suggest turning off your floppy drives in the BIOS and see if that bypasses the problem.

Carn't get into the bios it comes up fdc failure before

press F8 and try to boot up in safe mode...

if that doesnt work try inserting your OS CD, but if you cant even get into BIOS that wont work either, Hmmm I got to think about this one a bit...

Did you try reseating the cable? remove/reseat/reboot? If then maybe: total cost $12 buy a new floppy drive, make sure they give you a cable, remove both the existing cable and floppy install new one and reboot again...

tell us how it goes

And it won't continue after it shows the error? Tried hitting enter i presume. And or any other key combination to get into the BIOS.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
