fat to ntfs

hi all,
how do i change my drives to ntfs without losing the info on the drives, got 60 gigs split into 10 gig parts 2 of em are fat 32 rest are ntfs xp is on ntfs

Im sure I read somewhere sometime that if you convert a fat32 system to ntfs it causes a serious slowdown. Its far better to a clean install using the ntfs filesystem.

Dont know if its true but its what I read!!!

First I would back up the files from the two FAT32 parts to the NTFS parts. Now change the FAT32 to NTFS. Put the files back onto the new NTFS parts.

I've converted the fat filesystem to ntfs and didn't notice a slowdown. In fact it greatly increased speeds for me. Just back up your files like I should have (I didn't need to in the end though).

There is no reason not to convert - there will be NO slowdown (where did that come from?) and you need not back up anything first. It's a simple straightforward process. Just type:

CONVERT C: /FS:NTFS

in the command line (or substitute the C: with whatever partition is being converted) and press ENTER.
