Anyone know of any Free software as good as Evidence Eliminator?

As good as! Evidence Elimator is made by spammers, bullies and trolls. The product is very poor IMO.

For disk wiping - BC Wipe

Cleaning MRUs - MRU Blaster

Removing temp files - JV16

Cleaning Registry - JV16

Everything else - do it manually.

EE is awful, it is the most hated tool by security professionals because its a sub standard product made by a company that thinks spam is a genuine form of advertising.

Thanks Enyo. I must have been influenced by the advertising. They claim to be the only software to do the job correctly. They say that most of the others, and they list quite a few, are no good.

They do that, I mean look at the main page of there site. Big yellow dramatic box:

Its all smoke and mirrors and very little merit.

Wheres the list of software they say is no good?

Sorry Enyo, I can't find that link showing all the cleaners they claimed were no good. All the usual cleaners were mentioned. I'll keep looking for it again.

Is there a free version of BC Wipe?

I believe is none expiring shareware. May not be anymore im not too sure. Free ones:

Eraser is good so is PGPWipe also but is not stand alone or free in its current version (old versions of the PGP Suite are free). Also Analog-X SuperShredder.

Anything that does DoD standards or Gutmann is fine.

i've just found part of that article again, although it isn't the one I saw earlier which had a lot more software listed. It stated;-

If you have bought any cheaper imitation software, be aware of Vogon Forensics statement that:
"Internet Clean Up, Quick Clean, Surf Secret and Window Washer..... This type of software will never delete all the traces that you want it to from hard drives"

Thanks I've never used any of those so i guess i cant't comment but it would not suprise me if what they say is true and none of them work, but that does not mean EE works either
