Empty Network Connections Folder

Hi,
I know this topic has come up before, but I wonder if anyone has come across a solution.

I not sure exactly when or how it happened, but my network connections folder is devoid of icons, but my connections work ok. And when I refresh the folder I get this:
"The Network Connections Folder was unable to retrieve the list of Network adapters on your machine.
Please make sure that the Network Connections service is enabled and running."

Perhaps it happened when I had an ISDN card in briefly, or when I was using ICS with another machine, I don't know.
And yes, the network connections service is enabled and running. And no, I can't use system restore as I don't have a point early enough.

A few people seem to have had this problem, 2000 as well. But my registry appears to have those bits for that 2000 fix.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Cheers
T

Is that "Network Connections" service you mentioned started? Check in Administrative Tools->Services and make sure that "Network Connections" is listed as Started

Yep, it is started and on automatic. I've also tried turning it off, restarting , then on again, then restarting.... no difference.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
