e-mail message at log on screen

on my log on screen it says I have 14 unread e-mails under someone elses e-mail address.

I have tried for hours to delete this message.

Is there any way to turn this notifacation off or reset it back to show none?

Do I have to reformat hard drive and do a fresh install, god I hope not.

I'm running the pro edition and any help would be appreciated and thanks in advance.

theres definitely a way to turn that email notification off.

i can't remember whether its an option in tweakui for xp or an option in gpedit........you may like to check both.

i don't have xp here at work but if no-one else replys, i'll do it when i get home in 5 hours time.

don't go re-installing........

Yes, there is a solution

Yes, you can get rid of this annoying message by downloading the powertoys for windows xp

In that package, there is a program called Tweak UI and in that program there is an option that will reset this...do as follows:

start Tweak UI
IN Repair choose Repair Unread Mail count
click repair now
that is it!!!

If anyone has any answers to re-installing Windows Messenger after uninstalling it using the tweak off of this site, please let me know, it seems to install right but when starting the program, it won't start. Any clues or answers would be greatly appreciated.
