DVD will not play..

I install XP PRO on a pc that has a dvd rom and dvd burner neither will play a dvd. I upgrade winmedia to the newst ver. I installed Win dvd as the encoder but evertime a dvd starts to play it pulls up the windvd then comes up with a microsoft error. please help with any tips thanks!!

Have you tried any other DVD software and does it happen with all DVD's?

What is the exact error message, this might help.

check your ide cables, your firmware(s) (for updates), aspi, and your bios (for updates)

This happened to a friend on such a Sony Combo , had problems only with dvd's .. It had to be replaced ..

I would try other software. TUCOWS might be a good source for that

Try VideoLan and see if you still have problems.
